UFC 242

Khabib Nurmagomedov retained his title and continued his dominance in the UFC lightweight division by submitting Dustin Poirier. This wasn’t a huge surprise but I’m personally getting tired of seeing Khabib fight these strikers with little to no BJJ ground game or wrestling skills.

Khabib Nurmagomedov submits Dustin Poirier via rear naked choke

He gets them on the ground, wears them out and either gets the submission or wins by decision. Either way it’s not super compelling television. It’s compelling from a combat tactician point of view but probably not that interesting to the average MMA fan.

Dustin Poirier punches Khabib Nurmagomedov

The chances of Khabib ever losing to a striker are slim to none and at this point I’m leaning toward none, no chance of it ever happening. I really want to see Tony Ferguson get his shot at Khabib and if Nurmagomedov wins that fight then he may as well retire undefeated because no one in the lightweight division is going to beat him.

NFL week 1

Sunday September 8, 2019 - Houston Astros baseball team outscores 11 NFL teams in week one of the season. The teams that were outscored by the Houston Astros are as follows, Bears, Bengals, Bills, Browns, Buccaneers, Dolphins, Falcons, Giants, Jets, Packers and Steelers.

Antonio Brown (AB) signs with Patriots

This one pisses me off because I’m a Raiders’ fan and I don’t like the way AB did the Raiders organization. Now the Raiders don’t have AB or the draft assets they traded to the Steelers for AB.

Not all athletes want to play out their contracts, even though, gasp, they are the ones that signed the contract in the first place. Apparently they stop agreeing with those contracts when they begin feeling as though they have outplayed said contract.

That’s not the way contracts work. Everyone knows that! I feel like the NFL is beginning to set a bad precedent when it comes to contracts but that’s their problem, not mine! The AB situation wasn’t really about contract issues. It was about fines - and the question of whether or not he ever wanted really wanted to play for the Oakland Raiders has to be asked.
